Ultrasound is digital imaging of the targeted body parts or organs. Internal echoes are captured by specialized equipment that converts them into visual images. This program prepares students for a career as an Ultrasound Technician.
The Ultrasound Program is designed to educate and train students to perform the duties of a Certified Ultrasound Technician, which includes but is not limited to: explaining the ultrasound procedures to patients, preparing the patient for their sonogram(s), operating ultrasound equipment and reading the results, as well as other related healthcare duties.
Students who complete the Ultrasound Technician program will receive a certificate of completion from the school, which is one of the requirements for taking the ARDMS board exam. Sonography has a wide variety of specializations, such as cardiovascular sonography, neurosonology, gynecology and obstetrics, abdominal sonography, and more. Graduates of this program often work in diagnostic laboratories, physician offices and clinics, hospitals, mobile imaging units, and veterinary clinics and hospitals.
