Sterile Processing Technicians play a vital role in preventing cross-contamination and infection by ensuring that medical supplies are properly cleaned and sterilized, processed, stored, and distributed among other duties.

This program is designed to teach students how to clean and decontaminate, inspect, assemble, process, and sterilize surgical instruments and trays, distribute sterilized items and documentation, maintain documentation required for quality control, and other duties related to sterile processing. Students who successfully complete this program will receive a Certificate of Completion from the school, as well as have the knowledge and be prepared to take the HSPA Examination to become Certified Registered Central Service Technicians (CRCST).

NOTE: While all successful graduates of this program will receive a Certificate of Completion from the school, HSPA requires 400 hours of hands-on training to meet their certification requirements. If a student elects to take the HSPA exam before obtaining the documented 400 hours of hands-on training and passes the test, their HSPA certificate will be provisional and good for 6 months max while they work on obtaining the 400 hours of hands-on training.
