Clinical Medical Assistant
This program prepares the graduate with the skills, knowledge and experience to support doctors or registered nursing staff in the areas of direct patient care, electrocardiography, phlebotomy, and basic routine office tasks. The curriculum includes two specific areas of study: electrocardiogram technician and phlebotomy technician.
Instruction includes, but is not limited to preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, pharmacology, taking and documenting vital signs, technical aspects of phlebotomy, the 12-lead EKG and the cardiac life cycle. Graduates in this program will be qualified to take the CCMA National Exam, and typically are hired for positions in physician offices, hospitals, urgent care medical facilities, and clinics.
